‘Gobar Ganesh’ gets Universal certificate, hits screens on Maghe Sankranti

KATHMANDU: The much-talked-about Nepali film Gobar Ganesh has received a ‘green signal’ from the Central Film Censor Board.

The comedy-drama has been awarded a ‘U’ (Universal) certificate, allowing audiences of all ages, from young children to senior citizens, to enjoy the film with their families.

Directed by and starring renowned comedian Marichman Shrestha, also known for his popular character ‘Balchi Dhurbe,’ Gobar Ganesh is scheduled for release nationwide on Maghe 1 (Maghe Sankranti).

The film narrates the inspiring journey of a village youth who, struggling academically, moves to Kathmandu to change his life through sheer perseverance and determination.

The film has already generated significant buzz with its poster, trailer, and songs, and the production team expressed delight over the positive response from the censor board.

Director Shrestha noted that board members praised the film for its quality and appeal.

Produced under Balchi Dhurbe Films, the movie features a talented ensemble cast, including Barsha Siwakoti, Binod Neupane, Padam Tamang, Nirmal Sharma, Laxminath Timalsina, Santosh Baniya, Sandeep Lama, Maotse Gurung, Sitadevi Timalsina, Pujan Ghimire (Puku), Buddhi Tamang, Bishal Pahari, Ramesh Budhathoki, and Swastika Lamichhane.

The film’s technical crew includes Tarunath Neupane as chief editor, Yogesh Kaji Shah handling the background music, Shankar Pandey as producer, Shivaram Shrestha as director of photography, and Bipin Mall as editor.

Publicity design is by Tauwa Studio, with OSR Digital as the film’s digital partner. In Nepal, distribution will be managed by Shree Backtes Entertainment.
