KATHMANDU: Global IME Bank Limited has announced the launch of 19 impactful Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs to commemorate its 19th anniversary, reaffirming its commitment to inclusive and sustainable development across Nepal.

As one of Nepal’s leading commercial banks, Global IME Bank has consistently marked its anniversaries with large-scale social initiatives.

Last year, on the occasion of its 18th anniversary, the bank implemented programs focused on humanitarian support, education, health, environmental protection, and financial literacy, including a nationwide tree plantation campaign that resulted in the planting of nearly 21,000 saplings in coordination with local governments and community organizations.

For its 19th anniversary, the bank has prioritized education, healthcare, environmental conservation, financial literacy, humanitarian assistance, and income generation. These programs will be implemented nationwide, with a special focus on remote areas and underprivileged, poor, and low-income communities.

Among the flagship initiatives is the Global IME Healthy Women Initiative, under which the bank will organize 14 free women’s health camps across all seven provinces.

Services will include gynecological check-ups, VIA screening for cervical cancer, treatment for uterine prolapse, and free medicine distribution by specialist doctors. Women diagnosed with serious conditions during the camps will also receive surgical treatment in the second phase of the program.

The bank will also conduct large-scale eye check-up and cataract surgery camps at seven locations across the country, targeting individuals from poor and low-income backgrounds who lack access to proper eye care.

In addition, eye examinations will be provided to 1,500 students from government and community schools, with free spectacles distributed as needed.

Further health-related initiatives include the organization of general health camps in all seven provinces and financial assistance for the treatment of complex and chronic illnesses, based on recommendations from local authorities and health institutions.

In the education sector, Global IME Bank has been providing scholarships to talented but underprivileged female students from grades 6 to 12. Over the past five years, 140 students have benefited from this program, which will be expanded this year to include an additional 77 students. Other educational initiatives include the construction of libraries in remote schools, distribution of school uniforms and educational materials to 1,000 students, and the provision of first-aid training and equipment.

The bank will also provide financial support for MPhil and PhD research to deserving students from low-income backgrounds studying economics, management, and law.

On the environmental front, the bank will implement the Global Green School Program, focusing on plastic replacement, tree plantation, cleanliness campaigns, and the establishment of waste collection centers. In coordination with local governments, waste management training programs will be conducted. Blood donation programs will be organized in major cities, while children in shelters and orphanages will receive food and other essential support.

Additionally, the bank plans to conduct awareness programs on autism, promote information technology development and the adoption of modern technology, and distribute sports materials to schools and communities in remote areas to support the development of healthy and disciplined youth.

To enhance income-generating capacity, Global IME Bank will run an Enterprise Development Program, providing vocational and skill-based training to poor and low-income individuals.

Through all 352 of its branches, the bank will also conduct financial literacy programs to promote inclusion in the banking system and raise awareness against electronic fraud and financial crimes.

The bank stated that these initiatives are expected to directly benefit vulnerable sections of society and contribute to long-term national development, with all seven provinces included to ensure nationwide impact in health, education, and environmental awareness.
