Geely EX5 hits historic sales milestone, wins global acclaim for design & safety

KATHMANDU: Chinese automaker Geely Auto Group has achieved a historic milestone by selling 210,000 units of its fully electric SUV, Geely EX5, establishing it as one of the most successful new electric vehicles in its segment.

In just seven months, the EX5 sold over 100,000 units in China alone, signaling a strong market presence.

The model is now available in 26 countries, including Thailand, Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand, several European nations, and Latin America.

Geely Auto reported that it sold 1.4 million vehicles globally in the first half of 2025, marking a 47% growth compared to the previous year. The company plans to increase its annual sales target from 2.071 million to 3 million units, reflecting its ambitious expansion strategy. According to Geely, surpassing 210,000 EX5 sales worldwide demonstrates strong consumer trust and the brand’s leading EV manufacturing capabilities.

Expansion in Nepal

Recently launched in Nepal, the Geely EX5 has quickly captured the attention of local consumers.

Enthusiasts and potential buyers have eagerly booked test drives, prompting the official Nepal distributor, LRR Motors, to plan an expansion of dealerships across the country.

Top Safety and Design Accolades

The EX5 has earned five-star safety ratings from both Euro NCAP and ANCAP (Australasian New Car Assessment Program) in 2025, thanks to its robust GEA platform, Cloverleaf energy-absorbing body design, and advanced safety features. It comes equipped with seven airbags, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane-Keeping Assist, Blind-Spot Detection, and a 360° camera system, ensuring world-class protection.

In addition, the EX5 won the 2025 Red Dot Design Award for its aerodynamic exterior and smart interior design, reflecting Geely’s innovation and high design standards.
