KATHMANDU: Real Madrid surged to a 5–1 victory over Real Betis on Sunday, with Gonzalo García scoring his first-ever La Liga goals to complete a stunning hat-trick.

The win keeps pressure on league leaders Barcelona.

García, replacing the injured Kylian Mbappé, put on a brilliant display at Santiago Bernabéu.

His hat-trick was complemented by goals from Raúl Asensio and substitute Fran García.

The scoring opened in the 20th minute when García headed in a Rodrigo free-kick to give Madrid the lead. Just five minutes into the second half, he struck again with a brilliant volley assisted by Federico Valverde.

Rodrigo then set up Raúl Asensio for Madrid’s third goal in the 56th minute.

Betis pulled one back through Cucho Hernández in the 66th minute, but García completed his hat-trick in the 82nd minute from Arda Güler’s cross. In stoppage time, Fran García added a fifth goal to seal the emphatic win.

With this victory, Real Madrid remain four points behind La Liga leaders Barcelona.
