KATHMANDU: CPN-UML lawmaker Thakur Prasad Gaire has accused the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) of engaging in actions that fuel anarchy and undermine parliamentary norms.

Speaking at Tuesday’s session of the House of Representatives, Gaire criticized the RSP for boycotting Parliament in protest of the government-formed high-level investigation committee on the visit visa scandal.

He said such behavior reflects a failure to understand the role of the parliamentary system, the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), and the investigation process.

“The visit visa scandal has drawn serious attention from the entire nation, Parliament, and all justice-seeking citizens,” Gaire stated. “No guilty individual should go unpunished, and no innocent person should be defamed.”

Gaire emphasized that the CIAA is conducting a clear and independent investigation into the scandal, with the full cooperation of the government.

He noted that many Nepalis have suffered financial losses and hardships due to the visa fraud, and urgent action is needed to prevent such incidents from recurring.

He accused the RSP of promoting public disillusionment and weakening democratic processes. “This conduct nourishes a culture of despair in the country,” he said, urging all parties to work responsibly to restore trust in institutions and uphold the rule of law.
