KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa has presented a contemporary political proposal during the closed session of the party’s Special Convention, organized by the pro–Special Convention faction.
Addressing the session held at Bhrikutimandap in Kathmandu on Monday, Thapa outlined the necessity of the Special Convention in the context of the post–Gen Z protest political landscape.
His proposal elaborates on the legal basis of the Special Convention, the party’s historical traditions, the current political scenario, and the policy commitments of the convention.
The document also highlights key agendas such as preparations for the upcoming general elections, strengthening advanced democracy, promoting a pluralistic society, ending the trend of pre-election alliances, ensuring good governance, controlling corruption, and reforming the electoral system.
Thapa emphasized that the Nepali Congress must redefine its political direction in line with contemporary public aspirations, institutional accountability, and democratic values, aiming to restore public trust and reinforce the party’s leadership role in national politics.
