KATHMANDU: Drivers across Turkey are facing a fourth fuel price hike since the onset of the Iran war, with costs climbing sharply at gas stations nationwide.

Industry estimates indicate that fuel prices have risen by more than 20 percent on average, driven by instability in global oil markets and growing concerns over potential supply disruptions around the Strait of Hormuz.

Gasoline prices have now reached 64 Turkish lira (approximately $1.44) per liter, while diesel has surged to 79 lira ($1.79) per liter.

Turkey, heavily reliant on imported oil and gas, remains highly vulnerable to external shocks.

In response, authorities have implemented a sliding-scale tax system, reducing fuel levies in an effort to cushion the impact.

However, gasoline prices continue to outpace other fuel categories, adding pressure on consumers and businesses alike.
