From Bahun to Manchhe: Movie sparks debate ahead of release
The production team clarified that the name change was a precautionary measure to avoid unnecessary controversy.
KATHMANDU: The upcoming movie initially titled “JJanai Harayeko Manchhe: Sambandhaka Dhagaharu” has been renamed “Janae Harayeko Manche: Sambandhka Dhagaharu” following pressure from certain Hindu organizations and individuals.
The production team clarified that the name change was a precautionary measure to avoid unnecessary controversy.

Director Himal Neupane emphasized that the film is not religious in nature. “Our film is a social story. The term ‘Janai’ was used in relation to the subject matter, not to depict religion,” he said.
Neupane added that while they could have retained the original title, the decision to change it was to prevent distraction from the creative work. He further stressed that filmmakers have the right to create content on any subject without interference, and urged the government to safeguard creators’ rights.
“Janai Harayeako Manchhe: Sambandhka Dhagaharu” is scheduled to hit theaters on Bhadra 6.

The film features a strong ensemble cast including Bijay Baral, Bholaraj Sapkota, Keki Adhikari, Miruna Magar, Gaurav Pahari, Sushank Mainali, Riar Rai, Bhavana Khapangi Magar, Rupesh Lama, and Suman Thapa.
Produced under the Paperclip banner by Kamal Nyaupane and Bimal Nyaupane, with executive producers Narayan Timilsina, Chudamani Siwakoti, RK Manandhar, CR Basnet, Philip DC, and James Maharajan, the movie boasts music by Thaneswar Gautam, Arjun Pokharel, SD Yogi, and Prashant Siwakoti. Cinematography is handled by Krishna Pariyar and DOP by Naveen Gurung.

The story, screenplay, and dialogues are penned by Bhanubhakt Dhakal, with Dinesh Bahadur Raut as chief assistant director.
Other assistant directors include Tarkraj Neupane, Ravindra Nepal, Monika Thapa, and Akash KC.
Production controller is Laxmanraj Poudel, while distribution is managed by Kafiya Films, led by Govind Shahi.
