Fourth Inter-Rehab Five-a-Side Football Tournament kicks off (photos)

KATHMANDU: The fourth edition of the Five-a-Side Inter-Rehab Football Tournament 2082, aimed at the rehabilitation and reintegration of drug addicts, has officially begun.

Organized by the Ashraya Group rehabilitation center, located at BP Chowk, Gokarneshwar-1, the tournament features a total of 15 teams, including two teams from the host center and one team each from Dharan and Butwal.

The inaugural match of the tournament was officially opened today by outgoing Chairperson of the Finance Committee, Santosh Chalise.

Supported financially and technically by Gokarneshwar Municipality, the tournament offers cash prizes, shields, medals, and certificates: Rs 100,000 for the champion team and Rs 50,000 for the runner-up.

Additionally, individual awards such as Best Player, Top Scorer, Most Disciplined Team, Best Goalkeeper, and Emerging Player will be honored with cash prizes, trophies, and certificates, according to Chiring Sherpa, Director of Ashraya Group.

Established in 2012, Ashraya Group has been actively raising awareness against drug and substance abuse among youth and has organized this tournament annually for the past four years as part of its outreach programs.

In today’s opening match, Ashraya B secured a victorious start by defeating Sanu Prakash 6-0.

The tournament, played in a league-cum-knockout format, will conclude with the final match on Jan 29.
