Food Company purchases 12,527 quintals of paddy in Kailali

KATHMANDU: The Provincial Office of the Food Management and Trading Company Limited in Dhangadhi has purchased 12,527 quintals of paddy in Kailali so far.

The company began procurement from six centers across the district starting Kartik 12.

According to Office Chief Deepak Thapa, 3,879 quintals were purchased from Tikapur, 2,339 quintals from Mohanpur, and 2,000 quintals from Satti.

Additionally, 1,724 quintals were procured from Gauriganga, 1,300 quintals from Bhajani, and 1,285 quintals from Joshipur.

Thapa stated that the company is purchasing coarse paddy at the government-set minimum support price, which has been fixed at Rs 3,463.81 per quintal this year.

For the first phase, the company has set a procurement quota of 35,000 quintals in the district, with a maximum limit of 50 quintals per farmer.

Farmers are required to submit valid identification, a recommendation from the ward confirming their farmer status, and a copy of their cheque to sell paddy.

Last year, the company had a quota of 55,000 quintals in the district but purchased only 34,501 quintals, according to the Food Management and Trading Company Limited.
