Fog grips Terai & valleys as westerly winds affect weather

KATHMANDU: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has reported a partial influence of westerly winds across the country, with dense fog affecting many areas of the Terai as well as the valleys.

According to the weather forecast, fog is likely to persist in some parts of the Terai until midday today.
The high hilly and Himalayan regions are expected to remain generally cloudy, while the remaining hilly areas will see partly cloudy skies and the Terai will experience mostly fair weather.
Light rainfall and snowfall are possible at one or two locations in the high hilly and Himalayan areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Karnali provinces.
Tonight, fog is likely to develop in some parts of the Terai. The high hilly and Himalayan regions of Koshi and Gandaki provinces will remain generally cloudy, while weather in the rest of the country is expected to be mostly clear.
Light rainfall and snowfall may occur at one or two places in the high hilly and Himalayan areas of these provinces.
The Department has also warned that air pollution is likely to persist in the Terai and valley regions, as fog may continue until midday and there is no immediate likelihood of rainfall.
The public and concerned authorities have been urged to remain cautious and take necessary safety measures during adverse weather conditions.
