KATHMANDU: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has begun the process of filing a corruption case at the Special Court in connection with alleged irregularities during the construction of the Pokhara International Airport.

According to CIAA sources, final preparations to register the case are underway.

The commission had earlier decided to file the case by naming five former ministers as defendants.

CIAA’s legal team reached the Special Court on Sunday with the case file.

The commission has alleged that the state suffered a financial loss of Rs 8.36 billion due to malpractice during the airport’s construction.

The ministers named as defendants are former ministers Bhim Acharya, Ram Kumar Shrestha, Deepak Amatya, Ram Sharan Mahat, and Post Bahadur Bogati.

Since former minister Post Bahadur Bogati has passed away, the CIAA has made his wife Ram Maya Bogati a defendant in his place.
