Finance Minister Paudel rejects ‘super ministry’ claim, clarifies roles of key bodies
According to Minister Paudel, the rights of the National Planning Commission have not been curtailed but rather, its role has been made clearer.
KATHMANDU: Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel has stated that the Ministry of Finance is not operating with a “super ministry” mentality.
Responding to questions raised by the members during Thursday’s session of the House of Representatives regarding the Economic Procedures and Financial Responsibility (First Amendment) Bill, Minister Paudel made this clarification.
He emphasized that, as long as he is the minister, he will not entertain the illusion that the Ministry of Finance is a “super ministry.” Paudel also rejected accusations by lawmakers that the bill sought to reduce the roles of the National Planning Commission and the Office of the Auditor General.
