KATHMANDU: Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan, fondly known as “Big B,” celebrated his 83rd birthday on Saturday, Oct 11, with fans flocking to his residence in Mumbai, India’s entertainment capital, hoping for a glimpse of the legendary actor.
Bachchan, who entered the film industry in 1969, has appeared in over 200 films throughout his illustrious career.
Some of his most iconic movies include Don and Coolie, which remain classics in Indian cinema.

On his birthday, fans were seen offering greetings, gifts, and heartfelt tributes outside his home, showcasing the enduring admiration and affection they hold for the veteran actor. In the western city of Surat, an artist even created a portrait of Bachchan using diamonds, highlighting his iconic status.
Bachchan’s career has not been without its challenges. In 1982, during the shooting of an action scene on a film set, he suffered a near-fatal injury, leaving him critically ill for several months. However, he made a remarkable recovery and continued to dominate the silver screen.
In recent years, Amitabh Bachchan has also become a celebrated television personality, hosting the Indian version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, titled Kaun Banega Crorepati.
