Family seeks probe into Koili Shah’s mysterious death
Shah was found hanging in her rented room on Asar 28, and the family has raised serious concerns regarding the circumstances surrounding her demise.
RUKUM EAST: The family of 23-year-old Koili Shah, a support staffer at Sisne Rural Municipality, has demanded a thorough investigation into her suspicious death.
Shah was found hanging in her rented room on Asar 28, and the family has raised serious concerns regarding the circumstances surrounding her demise.
The family has submitted a formal complaint naming journalist Parichandra Khatri, president of Press Chautari Rukum West, and others, urging the authorities to launch an in-depth probe into the case.
DSP Umashankar Prasad Yadav, Chief of Rukum East District Police Office, confirmed receiving the complaint. “We’ve received a written application, but no formal FIR has been registered yet. However, an investigation is underway,” he told Makalu Khabar.
It has been alleged that Shah was in a romantic relationship with Khatri.
The family believes that emotional distress caused by tensions in their relationship may have driven her to suicide.
Following the complaint, 27-year-old Khatri reportedly switched off his mobile phone and has remained out of contact since.
While Shah’s family has already performed her final rites, the post-mortem report is still pending.
DSP Yadav stated that Shah’s mobile phone and social media activity could serve as critical evidence in the ongoing investigation.
“We are initiating the process to obtain court approval for a technical analysis of her phone and to access the Call Detail Records (CDR) of persons possibly involved,” he added.
