Fake ‘Byakul Maila’ sparks concern in parliamentary committee
Sobita Gautam of the Rastriya Swatantra Party raised her concerns about the bills and informed the committee about reports of a fake individual claiming to be “Byakul Maila,” the renowned composer of Nepal’s national anthem.
KATHMANDU: During a meeting of the International Relations and Tourism Committee of the House of Representatives on Friday at Singha Durbar, discussions arose regarding the circulation of a fake “Byakul Maila.”
The committee was scheduled to review the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal Bill, 2081, and the Nepal Aviation Services Authority Bill, 2081, including a comparative analysis presented by the Ministry.
Lawmaker and committee member Sobita Gautam of the Rastriya Swatantra Party raised her concerns about the bills and informed the committee about reports of a fake individual claiming to be “Byakul Maila,” the renowned composer of Nepal’s national anthem.
According to Gautam, this impersonator has been publishing books, submitting proposals, and even obtaining budgets under the name of Byakul Maila, actions that have hurt the composer’s reputation and dignity.
Gautam emphasized that such actions are unacceptable and that the Ministry should take notice of this sensitive matter.
She noted that when the police were informed, they advised filing a complaint against the impersonator. She warned that misidentifying the real person as fake could lead to serious misunderstandings.
“The issue of a fake Byakul Maila is emerging. Someone is producing books, proposals, and even allocating budgets in his name, which has damaged his self-respect. Such treatment toward the composer of Nepal’s national anthem is unacceptable,” Gautam said, urging the committee and the government to handle the matter with sensitivity.
