KATHMANDU: Former Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal’s wife, Ravilaxmi Chitrakar, who was seriously injured during a fire attack at their residence in the name of the ‘Gen Z’ protest, has demanded strict punishment for those responsible.

After a prolonged treatment and gradual recovery, Chitrakar compared the attack to Hitler’s “gas chambers,” emphasizing the destructive intent behind the protest.

Speaking to journalists at Tribhuvan International Airport on Monday evening (Poush 7), she criticized the perpetrators for “hiding behind the naivety of the youth” to destroy the nation. “I had read about Hitler’s gas chambers in books. Today, I personally experienced such horror,” she said. “Those who tried to destroy the country by exploiting the innocence of Gen

Z youth must be identified and punished immediately by the government. This is my demand.”

Former Prime Minister Khanaal also expressed his anguish, noting that the medical treatment process is still ongoing. “We still have much to do.

The process of recovery must continue,” he said, highlighting the difficulties of healing after their home was completely destroyed. “How can someone recover when everything, including one’s home, has been reduced to ashes? This remains a critical question for us.”

The incident occurred on Bhadra 24, when protesters allegedly set fire to the Khanal family residence in Dallu during a Gen Z demonstration.

Chitrakar suffered serious injuries, and the house was entirely destroyed. She was taken to India for treatment, and her health is now gradually improving.
