Ex-Koshi Province cricket captain Thapa dies in motorcycle crash
Thapa was critically injured and rushed to Koshi Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
KATHMANDU: Former Koshi Province cricket team captain, 27-year-old Minash Thapa, has died in a motorcycle accident.
According to Morang District Police, the accident occurred on Wednesday night on the Airport Road in Biratnagar-4.
Thapa was traveling from the airport toward Ganesh Chowk when the motorcycle he was riding, numbered Province 1–02–042 P 8002, went out of control and crashed.
Thapa was critically injured and rushed to Koshi Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
DSP Kopila Chudal, spokesperson for the Morang District Police, confirmed that further investigation into the incident is ongoing.
Thapa’s death has sent shockwaves through the Nepali cricket community.
The Koshi Province Cricket Association stated that his passing is a great loss to cricket in the region.
Known as a skilled wicketkeeper-batter, Thapa had captained the provincial team and was a familiar figure in domestic cricket.
