Energy Minister departs for China to attend SCO meeting

KATHMANDU: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Deepak Khadka has left for China to attend the 5th Energy Ministers’ Meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

The meeting is being held in Ningbo City of Zhejiang Province from June 23 to 27.

The Energy Minister’s Secretariat stated that the summit will focus on energy development and future cooperation among member nations.

The event will see participation from nine SCO member countries, including China, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, along with three observer states and 14 dialogue partners.

Minister Khadka is scheduled to deliver a statement during the inaugural session of the special program titled “Integrated Innovation for Energy Future” on June 26.

He will also participate in several sessions that day. On June 27, he will hold bilateral talks with senior officials of China’s National Energy Administration.
