KATHMANDU: Vehicles received from the Indian government as part of the assistance for the upcoming House of Representatives elections scheduled for March 5 have been placed in front of the burnt-out Singha Durbar building.

According to Finance Minister Rameshwar Khanal, India has committed to providing nearly 650 vehicles of various types to support the elections.

Of these, over 60 vehicles were handed over in the first phase, while more than 310 vehicles have already been transferred to the Nepali government in the second phase.

The Ministry of Home Affairs had requested material assistance from India for the elections through the Finance Ministry.

Responding to this request, India has provided hundreds of vehicles, including cabins, pick-up vans, and other small and large vehicles.

Currently, these vehicles are parked in front of the Singha Durbar building, the Parliament Secretariat parking area, and surrounding locations.

India has been supporting Nepal’s elections since 2008.

Continuing the long-standing friendly relations between the two countries, India has once again assisted with election management vehicles and security materials. After the elections, the Nepali government will be able to use these vehicles according to its needs.
