KATHMANDU: Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari has assured that the upcoming election will be held on the declared date, emphasizing that the Election Commission has already made significant progress toward the process.

Speaking at the inauguration of the Media Center at the Commission’s office on Friday, Bhandari stated that the question is no longer whether the election will take place, as the Commission is well advanced in its preparations.

He stressed that there is no alternative to holding the election and urged the media to alert the Commission if any attempts are made to disrupt the electoral environment.

Bhandari also called for careful monitoring of the activities and roles of political parties.

He highlighted that during the formation of the interim government, the President had emphasized the necessity of conducting elections in accordance with the Constitution, underscoring that elections are the only means to protect the Constitution and ensure good governance.

He further noted that the country is not in a position to endure additional unrest and stressed that it is the shared responsibility of all to ensure broad participation in the elections and to elect competent individuals to the Parliament.
