Elderly man dies in motorcycle collision
His body has been kept at the hospital for post-mortem procedures.
KATHMANDU: An elderly pedestrian has died after being struck by a motorcycle in Kamal Rural Municipality–1, Ittabhatta area of Jhapa.
According to police, the accident occurred around 6:30 PM on Saturday when a motorcycle (Ko 10 Pa 1480) en route from Solmari to Kerkha hit 70-year-old Shankar Prasad Dhungana, a local resident of Kamal–1.
Dhungana sustained serious injuries, including damage to his left leg and left ear. He was initially taken to NIMS Hospital in Damak for treatment and later referred to B & C Hospital in Birtamod due to the severity of his condition.
He succumbed to his injuries during treatment at around 11:45 PM the same night. His body has been kept at the hospital for post-mortem procedures.
Police have taken the motorcyclist, 35-year-old Manoj Murmu alias “Ludo Satar” of Kamal–1, into custody. Authorities said the motorcycle’s documents were not found at the scene, and the rider’s alcohol test was not conducted at the time. The exact cause of the accident is still under investigation, police added.
