‘Eklo-I’ hits second week, gains praise for unique storytelling
Director Pradeep Shahi has welcomed the mixed responses from audiences, emphasizing the importance of forming one’s own opinion.
KATHMANDU: The highly anticipated Nepali film “Eklo-I” has entered its second week of screening, drawing attention for its distinctive style and innovative presentation. Set in a post-apocalyptic Nepal, the film marks a fresh experiment in the country’s cinematic landscape.
Director Pradeep Shahi has welcomed the mixed responses from audiences, emphasizing the importance of forming one’s own opinion.
Speaking on social media, he said, “Some viewers found the film complex, while others appreciated its interpretative nature. The diversity of opinions is a beautiful aspect. In today’s world, negativity spreads quickly, so I encourage everyone to watch the film and form their own perspective.”
According to Shahi, “Eklo-I” serves as the foundation for world-building that will continue in its sequel, “Eklo-II: The Rise of Kalki.”
He added that audience enthusiasm has been encouraging: “It was heartening to see young viewers cheering during the final scene and discussing the ‘Eklō universe’ after the film. Slowly, the film is finding its domestic audience.”
In response to viewer feedback, the production team has corrected some technical issues. The updated version, featuring re-dubbing and Nepali subtitles, is now screening in theaters, making the film easier to follow. A new song, “The Rise of Kalki,” has also been released.
Internationally, “Eklo” is set to reach global audiences this week, featuring a star-studded cast including Pradeep Khadka, Vijay Lama, Sunil Thapa, Diya Pun, and Benisha Hamal.
Produced with investment from the NRNA Group and executive production by Binod Subedi (‘Kshitij’), the film aims to strengthen the global identity of Nepali cinema.
