KATHMANDU: The Election Commission has established offices for election officers in all seven provinces and appointed officials for the upcoming National Assembly elections scheduled for Magh 11.

According to Election Commission spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, district judges have been appointed as election officers.

The appointees are: Bhimaraj Prasai for Koshi Province, Shubhnath Puri for Madhesh, Geeta Shrestha for Bagmati, Himal Belbase for Gandaki, Prakashraj Pandit for Lumbini, Deepak Dhakal for Karnali, and Bhuvansingh Thapa for Sudurpashchim.

Elections will be held for 19 vacant seats starting Falgun 20.

The election schedule is as follows:

  • Poush 19, 10:00–11:00 AM: Publication of preliminary voter list, scrutiny of objections, and complaints.

  • Poush 22, 3:00–4:00 PM: Publication of final voter list.

  • Poush 23, 10:00 AM–3:00 PM: Candidate nomination.

  • Poush 24, 10:00 AM–4:00 PM: Scrutiny of complaints against candidates.

  • Poush 27, 10:00 AM–1:00 PM: Withdrawal of candidacy by candidates; 1:00–2:00 PM: Publication of final candidate list.

  • Poush 28, 10:00 AM–1:00 PM: Distribution of election symbols to candidates. Voting at respective polling centers will take place from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
