Dr. Sunil Sharma slams Congress clarification proposal
During the meeting held today, a proposal was made to seek clarifications from Dr. Shekhar Koirala, Rajendra Bajgain, and Dr. Sunil Sharma.
KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress lawmaker Dr. Sunil Sharma has issued a sharp response after a proposal was raised during the party’s office-bearers meeting to seek clarification from him.
Drawing a philosophical parallel, Dr. Sharma remarked, “To bring about a change in an era, the great Socrates drank hemlock in the fight for truth and justice.”
During the meeting held today, a proposal was made to seek clarifications from Dr. Shekhar Koirala, Rajendra Bajgain, and Dr. Sunil Sharma.
Congress leader Dr. Shashank Koirala had suggested that the trio should be asked to explain their actions, accusing them of defaming and attempting character assassination of Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak in connection with the recent visa controversy.
However, party president Sher Bahadur Deuba did not respond to the proposal, according to sources.
Questions had been raised against Home Minister Lekhak regarding the visit visa controversy, with calls for his resignation.
But today’s meeting concluded that there is no confirmed evidence of the minister’s involvement and deemed it inappropriate to demand his resignation based solely on rumors.
