Dr. Sharma calls for dialogue to resolve Congress crisis

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress leader Dr. Sunil Sharma has called for resolving all internal party differences through dialogue.
Speaking to journalists at the special convention venue, he emphasized that the party’s challenges must be addressed through constructive discussions.
Dr. Sharma noted that the Congress is currently at a critical juncture.
He attributed the present situation to leaders who, despite 54 percent of convention delegates signing to request a convention in accordance with party statutes, rejected the sentiments of the majority at the central committee level.
He urged the party’s establishment to prioritize the Congress and the future generation, demonstrating sacrifice, dedication, and progressive leadership to maintain party unity in these challenging times.
Dr. Sharma also appealed to party President Sher Bahadur Deuba to be ready for leadership transition.
He stressed that both convention supporters and other party members should prioritize party unity and the interests of grassroots workers.
He condemned actions that humiliate, punish, or push the party toward division under the guise of unity, calling them unacceptable.
Highlighting the broader implications, he warned that a crisis within Congress could translate into a national crisis and urged all leaders to act responsibly.
He also requested the negotiation committee, formed to resolve disputes, to reach conclusions by Tuesday evening.
