KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala has expressed surprise after a recent executive meeting held at the party president’s residence centered exclusively on him.

“I expected the meeting at the president’s home to discuss national issues, especially the recent directive by the Prime Minister for party workers to ‘take over Kathmandu on the 15th,’ but the entire discussion was focused only on me,” Koirala said.

He also expressed astonishment that despite the Prime Minister, who holds the highest office in the country, using non-political and confrontational language, the Nepali Congress has yet to issue any official statement addressing the matter.

Speaking at the inauguration of the National Council of the Nepal Nai Sangh, a friendly organization of Congress in Biratnagar, Koirala emphasized that the Prime Minister is not just an individual but also an institution, and every word spoken from that position carries significance.

He questioned, “Is there any compulsion for Congress to keep overlooking whatever the Prime Minister does?”

Koirala also voiced concern that Congress seems to be gradually forgetting its ideological originality in recent days.
