KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala has reaffirmed his commitment to party unity, emphasizing that he does not wish to see any division within the party.
Amid the inauguration of the Special Convention, called by the faction supporting the event, Koirala released a video message today, making it clear that he is not motivated by personal interests.
“I do not wish to advance the Congress transformation campaign out of anger or impatience. I want to state clearly that I have no personal ambitions. I have never been drawn by the allure of becoming a minister or general secretary, despite having opportunities in the past. Likewise, I am not tempted by the positions of party president or prime minister,” he said.
He added that his advocacy for Congress unity is inspired by his family’s life philosophy, and he continues to raise a calm and reasoned voice for the overall cohesion of the party.
Koirala also informed that he has formally submitted his views in writing to the Central Working Committee while the special convention campaign is ongoing.
He noted that delegates attending the convention in Kathmandu represent the party’s heritage and have come with the noble purpose of strengthening the relevance of procedures and policies.
