Dr. Chandra Bhandari, entering Parliament for the first time after burn
Bhandari was burnt and injured in a gas leak in a house in Buddhanagar on the night of Falgun 3 (Feb 15).
KATHMANDU: Federal MP Dr. Chandra Bhandari is going to present his views in the House of Representatives meeting today. MP Bhandari, who was seriously injured in the fire but returned to India for treatment, is going to present his opinion in the meeting at 11 am.
Bhandari was burnt and injured in a gas leak in a house in Buddhanagar on the night of Falgun 3 (Feb 15).
As treatment was not possible in Nepal, he was taken to the National Burns Center in Mumbai. After undergoing treatment there for about two and a half months, MP Bhandari returned home on Baisakh 17 (April 30).
He stated that he desired to have his treatment in Nepal, but that the state did not prioritize burn treatment. Bhandari stated that after traveling to India for treatment, he announced the building of a well-equipped burn treatment facility at Bir Hospital, but it is unfortunate that it is still not operating after more than three months.
He mentioned that since non-standard care is not available in Nepal in the event of a fire, ordinary residents are unable to travel overseas for treatment, indicating the necessity for an infrastructure hospital equipped with the essential technologies to give simple treatment in Nepal. He took the opportunity today to address these issues in the House of Representatives.
It will be his first appearance in Parliament following the fire. MP Bhandari has been given special permission to stay.
