Digital Nepal 2.0 reviewed by PM Oli
PM Oli met with Communications and IT Minister Prithvi Subba Gurung, Secretary Radhika Aryal, and Acting Managing Director of Nepal Telecom Sabina Maske, among others.
KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli today received a briefing on the timely expansion of the Digital Nepal Framework, 2076, and the ongoing progress of Nepal Telecom.
Highlighting the importance of leveraging information and communication technology (ICT) to accelerate good governance, development, and prosperity, PM Oli met with Communications and IT Minister Prithvi Subba Gurung, Secretary Radhika Aryal, and Acting Managing Director of Nepal Telecom Sabina Maske, among others.
In light of the recent approval of the National Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy, 2082, the Ministry has begun preparations to update and expand the Digital Nepal Framework to make it more timely and comprehensive.
The proposed framework, Digital Nepal 2.0 (FAST), focuses on building digital infrastructure, improving access, capacity development, and digital transformation.
The revised framework retains its focus on sectors such as agriculture, education, health, tourism, finance, and governance, while now also incorporating social security, disaster management, and climate change.
To oversee its implementation, a Digital Transformation Council, chaired by the Communications Minister, has been proposed for priority-setting, monitoring, and reporting.
The new framework will be implemented after approval by the Cabinet.
During his previous tenure, PM Oli had emphasized long-term vision for good governance and development through ICT, leading to the approval of the original Digital Nepal Framework, 2076.
