Deputy Speaker Rana Magar leaves for South Africa

KATHMANDU: Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Indira Rana Magar, departed for Pretoria, South Africa today to participate in a high-level international dialogue on democracy.

She will attend the event titled “Reimagining Democracy in Africa: Comparative Experiences from the Global South”, scheduled for Asar 5 and 6 (June 19–20), which is jointly organized by the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IDEA), the Open Society Foundations, and South Africa’s Department of International Relations and Cooperation.

The dialogue aims to explore democratic practices, challenges, and innovations across the Global South, with a special focus on Africa.

Deputy Speaker Rana Magar will represent Nepal’s perspective on democratic governance and share insights from the country’s federal parliamentary system.

She is expected to return to Nepal on Asar 8.
