Dembele double fires PSG to 3-1 win over Toulouse FC

KATHMANDU: Paris Saint-Germain extended their lead at the top of Ligue 1 to four points with a convincing 3-1 victory over Toulouse FC at the Parc des Princes on Friday.

Ousmane Dembélé was the standout performer, scoring twice in a dominant display from the home side.

Gonçalo Ramos added a late goal to seal the win, while Rasmus Nicolaisen briefly brought Toulouse level.

PSG started on the front foot, with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia testing goalkeeper Guillaume Restes early on.

Dembélé also threatened but initially failed to hit the target.

The breakthrough came in the 23rd minute when Dembélé struck a powerful volley from outside the box.

However, the lead lasted just four minutes, as a mistake by PSG goalkeeper Matvei Safonov allowed Nicolaisen to equalise with a header.

PSG quickly restored their advantage in the 33rd minute.

A corner from Lee Kang-in was flicked on by Kvaratskhelia, falling perfectly for Dembélé to finish from close range.

Dembélé thought he had completed his hat-trick later in the match, but his effort was ruled out for offside.

Ramos then wrapped up the victory in stoppage time with a long-range strike that deflected in off the post.

The French winger has been in remarkable form, scoring 41 goals in 62 matches across all competitions since Jan 2025—already surpassing his previous tally of 40 goals in 202 matches between 2019 and 2024.

PSG now sit top of the table with 63 points from 27 matches, while Toulouse remain ninth with 37 points from 28 games.
