KATHMANDU: In a high-scoring thriller in the Indian Premier League, Delhi Capitals defeated Rajasthan Royals by seven wickets on Friday in Jaipur.

Chasing a daunting target of 226 runs, Delhi completed the chase in just 19.1 overs, losing only three wickets in a dominant batting display.

Earlier, Rajasthan posted a massive 225/6 in their allotted 20 overs. Riyan Parag starred with the bat, smashing 90 runs off 50 balls to rescue the innings after an early wobble.

In the death overs, Donovan Ferreira provided the late fireworks with an unbeaten 47 off just 14 deliveries, powering Rajasthan to a formidable total.

For Delhi, Mitchell Starc was the pick of the bowlers, claiming three wickets while conceding 40 runs.

In reply, Pathum Nissanka gave Delhi a flying start with a quickfire 52 off 26 balls during the powerplay. KL Rahul then anchored the chase brilliantly, scoring 75 runs from 40 balls.

Nitish Rana added valuable momentum in the middle overs with a rapid 33 off 17 balls. Despite losing wickets, Delhi never looked under pressure.

Tristan Stubbs and Ashutosh Sharma calmly finished the chase with five balls to spare.

The victory marks a strong return to winning ways for Delhi, while Rajasthan failed to defend their imposing total.
