Deadline extended for taskforce studying nursing service facilities
As per the agreement, the taskforce will conduct a detailed study on the service structures for nurses and other related issues and prepare a concrete action plan.
KATHMANDU: The government has extended the term of the taskforce formed to determine service facilities for nurses equivalent to those provided in government service.
According to Dr. Prakash Budhathoki, spokesperson for the Ministry, the taskforce has been granted an additional one month, in line with the agreement reached between the government and the agitating nurses’ group.
As per the agreement, the taskforce will conduct a detailed study on the service structures for nurses and other related issues and prepare a concrete action plan.
The new deadline has been set until Mangsir 15.
The taskforce, led by Additional Secretary Dr. Shree Krishna Shrestha, consists of 14 members. It is mandated to classify hospitals and recommend appropriate service facilities for nurses. Coordinator Shrestha said the team is working to include both immediate and long-term measures in the report.
“The Minister has expressed commitment to resolving legal limitations through necessary amendments to ensure improved facilities for nurses,” he stated. “We are working to finalize the report accordingly.”
As per the prior agreement, major hospitals and private medical colleges will provide salaries equivalent to the fifth level from Kartik onward. Other private and community hospitals will provide 80% of the facilities equivalent to the fifth level.
