KATHMANDU: Chair of the CPN (Maoist Centre) and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has expressed serious concern over the removal of bills from Parliament’s agenda despite being unanimously passed by the concerned committee.

Speaking at Wednesday’s meeting of the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee, Dahal said it was unfortunate that bills endorsed after thorough deliberation and even unanimous agreement in committee meetings were being sidelined before reaching the full House.

He warned that such practices indicate growing behind-the-scenes maneuvering and delays that undermine parliamentary processes. “We hold discussions, study thoroughly, and pass the bills—some unanimously, some through voting. But once they reach the House, various political games begin, and the process gets delayed or derailed,” he said.

Dahal emphasized the importance of coordination with the government to ensure that sensitive and significant bills—especially those that have passed through committees after hard work—are swiftly turned into law.

He concluded by urging greater cooperation with the government to ensure that such critical legislative efforts are not wasted or obstructed.
