KATHMANDU: The District Security Committee of Parsa has lifted the curfew imposed in the Birgunj metropolitan area and replaced it with a prohibitory order covering four designated zones, citing gradual improvement in the security situation.

Chief District Officer Bhola Dahal announced that the curfew, which had been in effect since 9:45 AM on Tuesday, would be lifted from 4:30 PM and converted into a prohibitory order.

The decision follows an all-party and multi-stakeholder meeting held at the District Administration Office in Parsa, where a three-point agreement was reached regarding the incident that occurred on Sunday in Sripur, Ward No. 11 of Birgunj Metropolitan City.

“After reviewing the overall law and order situation, which appears to be gradually improving, and in line with the decisions taken during today’s all-party meeting, it was deemed unnecessary to continue the curfew,” said Chief District Officer Dahal. “Accordingly, the curfew has been lifted and a prohibitory order has been enforced from 4:30 PM today.”

Considering that the situation has not yet fully normalized, the prohibitory order will remain in force until 8:00 AM on Wednesday in Char Killa of Birgunj.

According to the District Administration Office, the restricted area has been demarcated as follows: Bypass Road to the east, Rani Ghat Bridge to the west, Powerhouse Chowk to the north, and Ghantaghar Chowk to the south.

During the prohibitory period, all forms of movement, public gatherings, rallies, demonstrations, meetings, and encirclement protests are strictly prohibited within the designated zone.

Authorities have urged residents to cooperate with security agencies to help restore normalcy and maintain peace in the area.
