KATHMANDU: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) delivered a dominant performance to defeat Mumbai Indians (MI) by 103 runs in the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Thursday night at the iconic Wankhede Stadium.
Chasing a daunting target of 208, Mumbai collapsed for just 104 in 19 overs, registering their heaviest defeat in IPL history by runs.
Earlier, Chennai posted a commanding 207/6 in 20 overs, powered by a brilliant unbeaten century from Sanju Samson.
He smashed 101 off 54 balls, including 10 fours and three sixes, anchoring the innings with authority.
Ruturaj Gaikwad added 22 runs, while Mumbai bowlers Allah Mohammad Ghazanfar and Ashwani Kumar claimed two wickets each.
In reply, Mumbai struggled from the outset under mounting pressure. Tilak Varma (37) and Suryakumar Yadav (35) offered brief resistance, but the rest of the batting lineup faltered, with eight players failing to reach double figures.
Chennai’s bowling attack was clinical, led by Akeal Hosein, who starred with 4 wickets for just 17 runs in his four overs.
Noor Ahmad chipped in with two wickets.
With this emphatic win, Chennai climbed to fifth place in the standings, while Mumbai remained eighth.
