Crowd rallies to join election police (photos)
Eligible Nepali citizens can submit their applications at the respective District Police Offices until Jan 15.
KATHMANDU: To ensure a peaceful and secure environment for the upcoming House of Representatives election on March 5, the Government of Nepal has intensified security preparations.
In line with this, the Nepal Police has officially started the recruitment process for “Election Police” (formerly known as temporary or “Myadi Police”) across the country from today, following approval from the Ministry of Home Affairs.
According to the Police Headquarters, the government aims to recruit a total of 149,090 election security personnel, of which the Nepal Police is responsible for 133,980 positions.
Eligible Nepali citizens can submit their applications at the respective District Police Offices until Jan 15.
This year, the government has rebranded the temporary security personnel from “Myadi Police” to Election Police, assigning them a 40-day term during which they will be deployed at the forefront of election security.
Following the announcement, applications have already begun pouring in at district police offices nationwide.
