KATHMANDU: Indian cricket’s young and explosive batsman Rinku Singh has lost his father, Khan Chand Singh, who passed away last night at Yatharth Hospital in Greater Noida.

Khan Chand had been battling stage-4 liver cancer for a long time and was admitted to the hospital three days ago in critical condition. Upon hearing about his father’s deteriorating health, Rinku had briefly left the T20 World Cup 2026 to be by his side but rejoined the team ahead of India’s clash against Zimbabwe.

Following the news of his father’s demise, Rinku Singh is set to return home immediately. It remains unclear whether he will continue in the ongoing tournament.

Khan Chand Singh, who worked at a gas agency in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, distributing cylinders, supported Rinku’s cricketing dreams despite financial hardships, helping pave the way for his son’s rise in Indian cricket.
