CPN-UML Secretary Bhattarai assures no misuse of lawmakers’ signatures
He added that the signatures collected on the same day by Congress and UML were purely coincidental and not the result of any coordinated effort.
KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Secretary Yogesh Bhattarai has clarified that lawmakers’ signatures will not be misused by political parties.
Speaking to journalists at Singha Durbar on Tuesday after signing, Bhattarai said that it is common practice for parties to collect signatures from their members from time to time.
He added that the signatures collected on the same day by Congress and UML were purely coincidental and not the result of any coordinated effort.
“The parliamentary party occasionally collects signatures from our honorable members, which are used in times of emergency. The party does not misuse them. This practice has been in place since 2048. Our party collects signatures from its members, and it’s just a coincidence that Congress did the same on the same day. Signatures can be used for matters like impeachment or government changes,” Bhattarai explained.
He also informed that Parliament will continue its sessions throughout the month of Bhadra.
