KATHMANDU: The Second Special Convention of the Nepali Congress has transformed the Bhrikutimandap area into a hub of excitement and activity.

Delegates, party leaders, workers, and well-wishers from across the country have flocked to the venue, filling it to capacity.

The stage prepared for the formal inauguration of the special convention is packed, with organizers announcing that the same venue will host the closing session following the opening ceremony.

Meanwhile, the registration of delegates is ongoing at the Bhrikutimandap itself.

On the eve of the convention, processions and rallies have been held from various locations across the Kathmandu Valley.

Groups from Kupandol in Lalitpur, as well as Sundhara, Ratnapark, Padmakanya Campus, Shankardev Campus, and Kamalpokhari in Kathmandu, are making their way toward the convention venue.

Delegates from Padmakanya Campus, Shankardev Campus, and Kamalpokhari have already arrived.

The special convention, convened under the call of General Secretaries Gagan Kumar Thapa and Bishwprakash Sharma, is based on Section 17 (2) of the party constitution and has the signatures of more than 54 percent of convention delegates.

However, the party’s founding faction has not formally recognized it.

Organizers anticipate that around 60 percent of delegates will participate in the event.

Preparations for food, accommodation, and other logistics at the Bhrikutimandap venue have been completed.
