KATHMANDU: The registration of delegates for the Nepali Congress’s special convention, led by the party’s General Secretaries, is underway at Bhrikuti Mandap in Kathmandu.

The two-day convention, organized by a faction within the party, began today with registration being conducted across eight designated stalls.

According to Yuvraj Pandey, coordinator of the District and Focal Person Committee for the special convention, 1,327 delegates had completed registration by 1:30 PM, following the start at 9:00 AM.

The party has arranged separate registration stalls for delegates from Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces, for foreign-based liaison committees, affiliated organizations, and well-wishers, for the Kathmandu Valley districts of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, and Lalitpur, and for the remaining five provinces. In total, Nepali Congress has 4,743 delegates across the country.

Before the inauguration of the convention, participants organized processions from six different locations in Kathmandu.

The formal opening ceremony took place at Bhrikutimandap earlier today.

Following the inaugural session, the convention will continue with a closed-door session inside the hall, Pandey said.
