The meeting is discussing the party's recent activities, current political developments, and the upcoming fiscal year's budget.
KATHMANDU: The office bearers’ meeting of the ruling Nepali Congress has commenced at party president Sher Bahadur Deuba’s residence in Budhanilkantha on Monday morning.
The meeting is discussing the party’s recent activities, current political developments, and the upcoming fiscal year’s budget.
A key focus of the meeting is the controversy surrounding Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak.
The party is expected to form an official stance today regarding Lekhak, who has been accused of involvement in a visa scam at Tribhuvan International Airport.
Allegations suggest that visit visas were misused for bribery, prompting demands for his resignation and an impartial investigation.
Some leaders within the Nepali Congress have called for Lekhak to resign on moral grounds.
However, Lekhak has denied any wrongdoing and stated that he would quit politics altogether if proven guilty of financial misconduct.
He has also confirmed that he has already requested time to address the House of Representatives on Jestha 13 to clarify the issue.
