Congress leadership election today: Full voting schedule released
The final voter list will be published at 2:00 PM, followed by candidate registration from 2:00 to 3:00 PM.
KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress’s special convention at Bhrikutimandap has formally initiated the process for selecting new party leadership.
According to the schedule released by the Central Election Committee, procedures ranging from voter list publication to candidate registration have officially commenced.
The committee approved and published the election timetable in a recent meeting.
The first voter list was released at 12:30 PM, with claims, objections, and scrutiny scheduled between 12:30 and 1:30 PM.
The final voter list will be published at 2:00 PM, followed by candidate registration from 2:00 to 3:00 PM.
Candidates’ names will initially be published in Nepali alphabetical order (Devanagari script).
After resolving claims and objections, candidates will have the opportunity to withdraw, and the final candidate list will be released later in the evening.
According to the committee, scrutiny of claims and objections will conclude by 7:00 PM, with the final candidate list published at 8:45 PM.
Voting times are set to begin at 9:00 PM, with counting and announcement of results immediately following the completion of polling.
With the convention now moving toward leadership selection, senior leaders from the establishment faction have also engaged in active discussions ahead of the vote.
