Committee seeks parliament building progress report in 3 days
Gaire stressed the need for interaction and discussion with stakeholders to understand why infrastructure implementation has become so complex and problematic.
KATHMANDU: The Committee for the Implementation, Monitoring, and Evaluation of Directive Principles, Policies, and Responsibilities of the State has directed the government to provide an update on the progress of the under-construction federal Parliament building within three days.
In a meeting held on Monday at Singha Durbar, the committee instructed the Ministry of Urban Development to submit a detailed report on the physical progress of the Parliament building and responses to the concerns raised by lawmakers.
Following the meeting, Committee Chair Thakur Prasad Gaire expressed serious concern over the prolonged delays and complications in infrastructure development. “The greatest disappointment stems from the current state of infrastructure progress,” he remarked.
Gaire stressed the need for interaction and discussion with stakeholders to understand why infrastructure implementation has become so complex and problematic.
He also stated that the committee has officially directed the ministry to submit a written update on the status of construction and address the queries raised.
The committee has also raised concerns over the lack of transparency and persistent delays in the construction of the Parliament building.
It is preparing to hold direct discussions with relevant authorities in upcoming meetings.
