CM Lama heads to Kathmandu after party poll loss
Lama, who was elected as a provincial assembly member from Nuwakot and is also a central committee member of the Nepali Congress, lost the internal vote held on Wednesday.
KATHMANDU: Bagmati Province Chief Minister Bahadur Singh Lama is heading to Kathmandu to meet Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, following his defeat in the party’s parliamentary leader election.
Lama, who was elected as a provincial assembly member from Nuwakot and is also a central committee member of the Nepali Congress, lost the internal vote held on Wednesday.
Indra Baniya secured 22 votes, while Lama received only 14.
Out of the total 37 votes, one was declared invalid.
Speaking about his visit, Lama said, “I am coming to Kathmandu today to meet the party president and brief him about the election of the parliamentary party leader and other recent developments.”
He emphasized that the visit was voluntary and meant to maintain transparency within the party structure.
