KATHMANDU: Civil servant nurses have joined the ongoing protest led by the Nepal Nursing Association, demanding fair wages and better work conditions.

On Friday, the nurses staged a sit-in at the main gate of the Civil Service Hospital in Minbhawan, Kathmandu, expressing solidarity with the association’s 15-point demand to the government.

The nurses said they are participating in the protest to ensure that basic services and facilities are not denied to them.

They also urged the government to implement a system that provides service and compensation based on their qualifications and experience.

“We provide round-the-clock services, yet we are deprived of essential benefits. The demands put forward by the Nepal Nursing Association, including access to proper services and facilities, are reasonable, and we fully support them through this sit-in,” said one of the protesting nurses.

The nurses held placards reading: “Evaluate our labor fairly,” “Ensure pay based on qualification and experience,” and “Immediate provision of risk and additional allowances” while staging the protest from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The Nepal Nursing Association has been organizing protests across the country, urging the government to immediately provide minimum services, facilities, and fair compensation to nursing staff.
