KATHMANDU: Citizens Bank International Limited has successfully concluded its nationwide financial literacy campaign under Global Money Week 2026, held from March 16 to 22, with the theme “Smart Money Talks 2026.”

The bank conducted extensive financial literacy programs through its 108 branch offices across all seven provinces, targeting thousands of individuals.

Around 6,000 people directly benefited from the initiative.

Nationwide Outreach Across Seven Provinces

Under the campaign, the bank organized programs in a wide range of locations:

  • Koshi Province: Banigama, Birtamod, Diktel, Itahari, Gaighat, Inaruwa, Laukahi, Duhabi, Harinagar, Damak, Pathari, Haldibari, Kanchanbari-2, Dangihat, Biratnagar

  • Madhesh Province: Kanchanrup, Loharpatti, Pathlaiya, Bardibas, Fatepur, Birgunj, Mahendranagar (Dhanusha), Pato, Aurahi, Gaushala, Dhanushadham, Garuda, Kalyanpur, Lahan, Nijgadh, Ramgopalpur, Bodebarsain, Rajbiraj

Focus on Youth and Digital Financial Awareness

The programs primarily targeted youths and students, highlighting the importance and necessity of financial literacy. Participants were educated on:

  • Current financial literacy conditions

  • Risks and rising crimes linked to digital banking expansion

  • Safe practices in cash transactions, remittances, and financial dealings

The bank encouraged participants to use formal banking channels for financial transactions to strengthen the financial system and enhance financial awareness among young people.

Innovation and Digital Banking Milestones

The bank, which has received the prestigious “Bank of the Year 2024 and 2025” awards, continues to lead innovation in Nepal’s banking sector. In collaboration with Fonepay, it launched Nepal’s first virtual credit card — “Citizens Fonepay Credit Card.”

Recent offerings include:

  • “Citizens Gen-Z Savings Account” targeting young customers

  • “Citizens Digi Bank”, an integrated online banking platform

  • A “Freelancer Savings Account” tailored for freelancers

  • Mobile banking features enabling share applications and CRN services

  • A cross-bank teller service, allowing customers of other banks to withdraw cash via QR scan at Citizens Bank branches

Expanding Nationwide Banking Network

Citizens Bank International Limited currently serves over 2.002 million customers through:

  • 200 branches across 61 districts

  • 169 ATMs

  • 3 extension counters

  • 42 branchless banking units

The bank reaffirmed its commitment to expanding financial access and promoting modern, secure, and inclusive banking services across Nepal.
