Chief Whip Pandey urges government to prioritize key bills in Parliament
Pandey expressed serious concern over the long delay in endorsing the much-anticipated Federal Civil Service Bill.
KATHMANDU: Hitraj Pandey, Chief Whip of the CPN (Maoist Centre), has strongly called on the government to prioritize and advance crucial bills related to the federal civil service, school education, and citizenship in Parliament.
Speaking at Thursday’s meeting of the House of Representatives, Pandey expressed serious concern over the long delay in endorsing the much-anticipated Federal Civil Service Bill.
He urged the government to immediately include it in the parliamentary agenda and pass it without further postponement. He also emphasized the need to move forward in parallel with the bills on education and citizenship.
Criticizing the government’s inconsistency, Pandey said, “The government claims it will bring bills quickly, but its actions tell a different story.” He expressed dissatisfaction over the repeated inclusion and subsequent withdrawal of the federal civil service bill from the House agenda.
Detailing the timeline of the bill, Pandey noted, “The bill was registered on Falgun 21, 2080. A general discussion took place on Chaitra 21, then it was sent to the committee on Jestha 15, 2081. It was brought to the House on Asar 1, 2082, and scheduled for discussion on Asar 3, but was again withdrawn.”
Pandey emphasized that the bill is not only vital for federal employees but also crucial for resolving staff management issues at the provincial and local levels. “It is urgent to pass this bill to address the nationwide problems in employee management,” he said.
He further expressed frustration that despite repeated calls from the main opposition party to advance these bills, the government has failed to demonstrate seriousness.
