KATHMANDU: Hitraj Pandey, Chief Whip of the CPN (Maoist Centre), has accused the government of causing delays in the passage of key bills.

Speaking at Wednesday’s meeting of the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee, Pandey expressed frustration that despite ministers urging swift progress on legislation during committee discussions, it is the government itself that is hindering the process.

“The Honorable Home Minister always says the bills should move forward quickly, but it’s the government that’s holding them back,” Pandey said. “The government must take this issue seriously.”

He also criticized the committee chair for failing to take proactive steps to push important bills forward, including those related to the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority and the civil service.

Pandey emphasized the need for both the government and the committee leadership to act with greater urgency and commitment.
